Awesome Sports Events are always on the lookout for new helpers of all ages to assist us with our sports events. Our volunteers are the ones that make it all come together on the day and are crucial to the Awesome Sports Events Team. We are very proud to have a fantastic core team and have received some fantastic comments and feedback from race officials and competitors about how friendly and helpful our volunteer staff are!

 

We are now looking for new members of the team for 2016 … whether you would like to be involved in the set-up of the event, on the day marshalling, registration, swim lane counting or on the gates at transition, we have something for everyone.

Every marshal that volunteers will receive a food & drink voucher to be used on the day, a bespoke t-shirt and expenses or a discount off a chosen Awesome Sports Events race place (to be used within the year)

 

Interested? …. You may want to know what’s involved 

 

Most events are on a Sunday and will involve an early start. Set up the day before will mainly be on a Saturday and will last a few hours with a handful of staff involved to set up registration and seeing in athletes that would like to register early, organising the signage of the bike route, set up of the transition area and bike racking.

 

On the day, we would require 4/5 hours of your time. You will be allocated a high-vis marshal jacket to wear on the day. When you arrive you will receive a briefing from one of the event directors covering the main aim of the day, as well as your duties of your area to marshal. You may also need to answer questions from competitors or spectators, be enthusiastic and motivating to athlete’s on the course and generally be a smiling face when the sun is rising and the race is in full swing!

 

What’s next? After we have received an email from you, showing your interest, we can book you into your first event and if you would like to return, we can book you in for further dates. Once booked in, you will receive an email from us on the Monday before the event confirming all event details including venue address, parking details, start time, marshal job role for the day and your main contact.It’s as simple as that!
